Short bio
Eduard Sabidó is the Head of the Proteomics Unit at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) and Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona. He holds degrees in Biochemistry, Biology, and Computer Science, and earned his PhD in Biology from the University of Barcelona and did his postdoctoral training in mass spectrometry at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine and ETH Zurich. Eduard is a recognized expert in targeted proteomics and mass spectrometry, with a strong international reputation in both research and doctoral training. He has coordinated the H2020-MSCA Innovative Training Network PROTrEIN and he will now coordinate the ProtAlomics Doctoral Network. Throughout his career, Eduard has demonstrated a deep commitment to educating early-stage researchers. He has supervised several MSc students and four PhD students. He regularly teaches in master’s and PhD programmes at UPF and CRG, and has organized several EMBO Practical Courses on Targeted Proteomics showcasing his dedication to hands-on, method-driven training.
Research interest
Eduard’ research is centered on the development and application of advanced mass spectrometry-based techniques for quantitative proteomics. His team designs novel analytical and computational approaches to overcome current limitations in sensitivity, reproducibility, and throughput, particularly for biomedical and clinical research applications. At the CRG/UPF Proteomics Unit, he leads efforts in targeted protein quantification, protein–protein interaction analysis, and post-translational modification mapping. These activities are supported by a robust infrastructure and are integrated into broader initiatives such as the Spanish National Infrastructure of Omics Technologies (ICTS OmicsTech) and the European EPIC-XS consortium (2019–2022). His research not only advances the frontiers of proteomic technology but also serves as a foundation for high-quality training environments.
