About
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is a world-leading multidisciplinary biomedical research hub in Barcelona. It is one of only ten life-science institutes in Spain to hold the prestigious Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence accreditation—the highest national distinction for a research centre. The CRG’s group leaders, more than half of whom hold ERC grants, are organised into four programmes: Systems & Synthetic Biology; Computational Biology & Health Genomics; Genome Biology; and Quantitative Cell Biology. Reflecting its global mindset, around half of the staff is international, representing 55 nationalities as of the end of 2024.
The CRG runs competitive international PhD and postdoctoral programmes (co-funded by the European Commission) and holds the HR Excellence in Research Award from the European Commission to recognize the institute´s commitment to improving human resources policies for researchers. CRG brings long-standing expertise in EU training networks, having been involved in numerous Horizon 2020 training initiatives, ranging from individual MSCA fellowships to Doctoral Networks. This continued engagement underlines CRG’s active leadership in training the next generation of biomedical researchers.
